How Far Back Can Deleted SMS Message Recovery Go? There is no specific time limit on how far back SIM Card Seizure will recover messages from. It all depends on whether the deleted data has been overwritten by new data. Most SIM cards have between 64k and 128k of storage space. This can be a lot of messages. As messages are deleted, any new messages are written over the space occupied by the deleted message. Because of this, it's impossible to determine the length of time any given message will remain recoverable from a SIM card.
Is it possible to clear messages or damage the SIM card with SIM Card Seizure? No! Providing the capability to change the contents of a card is dangerous for a program that is meant to produce evidence and SIM Card Seizure is a forensic tool used by law enforcement around the world. For this reason it is not possible to wipe messages, or make any other change to the contents of a SIM card with SIM Card Seizure.
Which phone models does SIM Card Seizure support? SIM Card Seizure can read the contents of a GSM SIM card regardless of which phone it has been used in. Make sure the phone you want to investigate has a SIM card and that it stores text messages on the SIM card before purchasing.
How long time does it take? Imaging a SIM card takes 3-5 minutes depending on the speed of your computer. You can then store the content on a computer file and do the analysis later. Since imaging is so easy, it might be a good idea to take "snapshots" of a card to be investigated at regular intervals.
Can SIM Card Seizure get the PIN or PUK codes? PIN and PUK codes are not stored in files on the card. With SIM Card Seizure, you can access the data on the SIM card if you have the PIN or PUK, or you can choose to read the accessible files without any of the codes. The PUK code (the master code) cannot be changed, and is always stored by the service provider. It is therefore always possible to obtain the correct PUK code for a card from the service provider.
Can SIM Card Seizure read inactive cards? Yes, it can read the contents of the card regardless of the subscription status. As long as you have the card, you can read it, even if the subscription has been deactivated.
Phone must be saving desired data to SIM card for data recovery to be possible. SIM Card Seizure will not work with phones that do not use SIM cards.
Please note: Any time you recover deleted data, the data may have been overwritten by new data and is therefore not recoverable. SIM Card Seizure will recover deleted data as long as it is recoverable.
